Favorite Programs

Digsby, allows you to monitor multiple Email, Instant Messaging, and Social Networking sites at the same time. Top Recommendation

Skype, a great VoIP (voice over internet protocol) and allows you to chat with people over the internet. It frees up your cell phone minutes and allows you talk to people all over the world for free, video chatting is also included.

Rocketdock, this is an application launcher almost identical to the Mac OS X dock.

Google Chrome is my new favorite browser after being a loyal Firefox fan for years. Tons of speed, the best security, and easy memory management makes it a great browser.

Picasa 3, photo editor and viewer, the user interface is very stylish and the editing tools are easy to use. Comes with a 1 GB storage for your photos online and uses your Google account.

uTorrent, torrent client used to download programs, games, and movies along with site like Pirate Bay.

Camstudio, screen recording software to record your screen if you are showing someone how to use something on your computer, also takes screen shots.

ESET NOD32, the best anti virus software I have used, it found files that McAfee Norton never noticed and is also used by Leo Laporte from twit.tv. There is a free trial but after that you have to pay for it.

WavePad, sound editor that allows you to record from a microphone or edit sound files such as MP3′s.

Google Earth, great program to use in your free time to explore the world and visit places. The pro version allows you to record the globe and do tours on your desktop then export them as a video file.

Wirecast, lets you record from your webcam and allows you to change the views with transitions if you have more then 1 camera and record to streaming sites or record to Youtube.

Powerdirector 10, by far the best video editor I have used to date. It is on the lower side of the price range compared to other editors of the same power but this one is simple to use, imports and exports into almost every quality and has tools for most things like slow motion and audio mixing.

Rigs of Rods, a free and open source sandbox simulator what includes thousands of vehicles such as planes, helicopters, boats, trucks, cars, cranes, etc. It is very realistic in terms of a simulator and damage. Adding vehicles from the repository is simple and only involves downloading it and drag-and-dropping to the folder. If you have any trouble running the game or how to play it, let me know.

Teamviewer – This program is used as a remote desktop software. I use it on 4 computers to access them when I am not home and has saved me a few times when I forget documents. The setup is simple and it can be used behind firewalls and proxies as well. While you are connected to another computer, you can use interact with your webcam, a built in chat box, and can file transfer as well. A surprising feature is called wake on LAN which enables you to log onto the computer even if it is locked or sleeping as long as you know the password.

Onlive – This program is the most innovative step in gaming in a long time. It allows you to stream games over the internet that you would normally not be able to play. I currently play Just Cause 2 and Borderlands and can play them on any PC or Mac.

Make money off your computer’s idle time!
